Artivist Film Festival

The Artivist Collective is pleased to announce the slate for this year's Artivist Film Festival, which takes place August 18-20 at the historic Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, screening independent, narratives, documentaries, shorts, and experimental films from around the globe. The festival concludes on with The 2011 Artivist Awards and the winning films of this year’s festival.

Founded in 2003 the ARTIVIST FILM FESTIVAL is the first festival dedicated to raising awareness for international human rights, children’s advocacy, environmental preservation, and the humane treatment of animals through international narrative and documentary films. More than just a film festival, we guide the public “From Awareness to Positive Action” by providing educational, informative films that inspire action; we then connect our audiences to dozens of NGOs where they can actively participate in affecting positive change.

Through the years, the Artivist Film Festival has screened more than 400 international Films representing 60+ Countries, and has produced Film Tours, promoting our mission and connecting our Sponsor to more than 35 Million people in 5 Countries: U.S.A., U.K, Japan, Mexico, and Portugal.

Artivist Founder-President, Diaky Diaz, states “through the films and the presence of diverse NGOs active in human rights, animal advocacy, and environmentalism present at Artivist, the festival presents a unique opportunity for filmgoers to gain both awareness of issues and become active participants in positive change.”ARTIVIST is a leader in the Progressive and Green movement, and has received public endorsements from various global leaders and organizations including the UNITED NATIONS, Amnesty International, Global Green, Humane Society of the United States, Witness, and Claes Nobel of the Nobel Peace Prize Family.

Films Premiered at the Artivist Film Festival have received international acclaim such as ACADEMY AWARD winner "Born Into Brothels", ACADEMY AWARD Nominees "Super-Size Me" and “God Sleeps in Rwanda”, “Fast Food Nation", “Emmanuelle's Gift", “Zeitgeist”, "Trudell“, “Stolen Childhoods”, and more.

Each year, the Annual Film Festival Tour concludes with “THE ARTIVIST AWARDS” which honors the contributions of advocate celebrities, socially conscious filmmakers, and the work of outstanding charitable organizations.
