This January, SYRCL’s (South Yuba River Citizens League) 11th Annual Wild & Scenic® Film Festival returns with another incredible selection of films to change your world. Each year, the Wild & Scenic® Film Festival draws top filmmakers, celebrities, leading activists, social innovators and well-known world adventurers to the historic downtown of Nevada City, California. The theme for the 2013 festival is “A Climate of Change”. Along with our usual line-up of beautiful, engaging and eye-opening films, we will have a particular focus this year on climate change, as well as highlighting the change makers who are creating a more livable future.

The Social Change Film Festival & Institute’s Water Symposium It’s a rare and special occasion, when creative people with innovative ideas about how to better the world get a chance to converge, share ideas, and inspire each other in a grand beautiful setting. And that is just what took place a few weeks ago at the Social Change Film Festival & Institute’s Water Symposium, in the Silicon Valley town of Los Altos Hills, when filmmakers, activists, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, students and concerned citizens, gathered on the grounds of the historic Stonebrook Court estate.

The University of Minnesota is a reputable research institution, earning about $30 million in grants each year for its College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. So, given the history of that college's programs and research, it came as quite a surprise to filmmaker Larkin McPhee that the release of her film, Troubled Waters, was postponed at the request of the University's PR department.
