Oil/energy seems to be a theme this week:

The Big Fix, from the team that brought you the Sundance Award winning Fuel, launches is Academy campaign with its LA premier and first week with several panels by the film makers and special guests.

Revenge of the Electric Car follows sold out openings in LA and SF with its Chicago opening. This great film by Chris Paine, Director of Who Killed the Electric Car, follows the people who are leading the movement for electric cars within the auto industry, and the challenges they face.

 

SF Green Film Festival is having a special screening for the SF premier of Pipe Dreams – a very timely film with the vote on the Keystone XL pipeline in headlines this week. Check it out and find out more about this issue.

Thrive launched 11.11.11 with a worldwide premier in 10 languages. The film looks at energy, money and other issue that have kept the common person from thriving. The movie is not available in theaters except through Community screenings – check back for more information.

But, its not just about oil/energy as last weekend the Global Social Change Film Festival held a great event in Los Altos to raise awareness about this year’s theme – water, and the role film and media can play in addressing this issue.
