Transformational Media Blooming

As we start to feel the blossoming of spring, there is also an abundant blooming of transformational media events. Its interesting that after Inside Job won the Academy Award for Best Documentary last month, this month brings a crop of fresh economic views and alternatives.  Some of the many events this week include:

  • There will be a live stream of the Skoll World Forum on social entrepreneurship starting Wed March 30
  • On Thursday March 31, there will be a special 1 night screening of To Catch a Dollar featuring Mohamed Yunis and guests talking about the Noble Prize winners attempts to bring microfinance to America.
  • The Sustainatopia Film Festival takes place starting on Thursday in Miami in conjunction with the Sustainatopia Impact Investing Conference.  The live stream from the Skoll World Forum and I AM are featured, along with the film Bag it and Fresh.  The Dallas Film Festival also starts this weekend and features panels and films on environment and social change.

Tom Shadyac's film "I AM" finishes its run in DC, and opens in Boston, Queen of the Sun continues in SF and opens in 28 cities, and Vanishing of the Bees continues to screen at various locations nationally. Also this week is the LA premier of The Economics of Happiness in Los Angeles, and the film YERT makes its World Premier.
